Tadeusz Kantor & his Work/son Travail

Tadeusz Kantor

Tadeusz Kantor on his work:
Work that exhales nothing, expresses nothing, is not active, communicates nothing, is neither a form of witnessing nor a reproduction, does not refer to the spectator’s reality, nor to the author who is impervious to external penetration, who opposes any opacity leading to tentative interpretation, turned towards NOWHERE, towards an UNKNOWN which is the VOID, a « HOLE » within reality, without destination, and without any location, which is like life passing, fleeting, evanescent, impossible to fix and retain, which leaves the sacred terrain that one has reserved for it, without searching for arguments in favor of its utility. (Translation by P.M.)
